Inspired by Borges’ short story “The form of the sword”, the acting students of the Volonté School explore the boundary between lie and truth, interpreter and character. The “bitter scar” that crosses the face of the protagonist is the sign to decipher, suspended between identity and otherness, courage and cowardice. Perhaps, in order to fully tell oneself, one must hide behind someone else, because certain truths can only be revealed through lies. Perhaps, that border is the actor’s place of choice. Does acting mean bringing out something about oneself transfiguring an unspeakable secret?
