RIFF is preparing to host ten animated short movies by award-winning directors.
Within this year’s particular selection you will find First Born by Justin Bruce Lee, which expresses all the passion and determination for Kung Fu; the award winner Freeze Frame (Belgium) by animator Soetkin Verstegen: a breathtaking experimental short halfway between absurdity and illusionism; Heal, with its surrealist style inspired by Salvador Dalì, by animator Ysabel Li (Congying Li); Memories, an experimental and visionary short by Stefano Bertelli and Releasing Spell by Markéta Magidová: an enchanted journey through the fight against contemporary social stereotypes. You will also find Sad Beauty by ArjanBrentjes: a splendid representation of the connection between a young woman and the nature she loves and respects, To The Dusty Sea by Héloïse Ferlay, a splendid animated portrait of the affection that characterizes a mother and her children, marvelous in its simplicity; Something Borrowed by Michaela Wozny, who received a nomination for the BAFTA LA Student Film Awards 2020; The Parrot Lady, animated short by Michalis Kalopaidis, inspired by the life of a woman who lives in the company of her parrots and Way of Sylvie by Verica Pospíšilová Kordić, a short film that portrays an everyday reality in which the viewers will easily recognize themselves.
