“Island of Dreams” delivers an intimate portrait of Cuba in a time of crisis. What makes someone leave everything they love to make their way into an unknown future? What makes someone stay despite deprivation? This documentary follows several Cubans who love their country but struggle with the conflict to stay or leave an increasingly dysfunctional government and collapsing economy. Their characters are Cuban, but their voices are universal.
