The documentary “The theater is now” has followed from the beginning the struggle in Italy for the rights of the whole category of the theatre workers, from 2020 until now. The condition of workers and artists – until the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic – was little known or worst undervalued, because still today the theatre people haven’t a legal recognition and therefore has no protection nor sufficient benefits to create. The film alternates declarations of the theatre people, with performance interventions and repertory images that tell some moments of a protest that is not finished yet.
