The docu-film explores the bond between man and nature through Iceland, seen from above as a distant, humanless planet. A poetic fugue of many voices intertwines: Leopardi’s Dialogue between Nature and the Icelander (1824), Jón Kalman Stefánsson’s verses, reflections on Iceland and Leopardi, and the raw beauty of a young, primordial land. Music – contemporary, folk, Persian, Schubertian – marks the rhythm and unites these worlds. In Iceland’s extreme landscapes, distant universes meet, in a place where, as Stefánsson writes, God and the devil live side by side.
