Rome is the city of cinema but also of cinemas, there is one in almost every neighbourhood. They are magic boxes scattered around the capital that contain stories, names, lives and memories of all the people who have frequented them and still do. But cinemas are also fragile places, sensitive to what they have around them, changing name, destination, appearance. Some disappear quietly, others turn into supermarkets, bingo halls or garages. “Buio in sala” is an attempt to map them and at the same time an account of the city through a different gaze.
