The new structure of RIFF 2020, imposed by the historical contingencies of this difficult year, will allow the Festival to take a new important step towards its audience. Historically involved in the Documentary award, the spectators of the event will be able, starting from this edition, to impose their own brand on the other films in competition; the 2020 edition will in fact introduce the Audience Award for the first time in its history.
Therefore, there will be two main awards: the one assigned by the jury (always present and highly confirmed, even during this year dedicated to streaming), and another one as-signed by the audience, called to express its opinion on the entire proposal of the cata-logue. The documentary recognition will maintain its exclusivity, but it will be accompa-nied by an open award conferred by the public through free voting on the Mymovies plat-form; the voting is open to all the films in the competition, without distinction, to discover the most popular work in the new edition.
