Why are Virtual Productions a revolution in cinema?
Cristian Casella, Francesco Grisi, Nicola Sganga and Francesco Mastrofini will discuss the future of high-budget VFX, straddling artificial intelligence and real-life fidelity.
The RIFF this year decided to focus on virtual productions to try to discover how digital sets will shape the future of cinema.
In Italy, the first steps in this direction have already been taken: Cinecittà̀ is in fact equipped with one of the largest LED walls in Europe, installed inside the Theatre 18 .
The T18 Led Volume Stage is a state-of-the-art studio, which allows a film to be shot in a virtual and dynamic set. Thanks to the combination of high-definition LED panels that wrap around the stage, the set becomes a de facto extension of the real scene, offering a series of advantages and services to productions, from the possibilitỳ of displaying still images or plates as backgrounds, to completely shooting scenes in Virtual Production.
