This stage of the day is organized in order to make the pitching as productive as possible for all attendees. A selection of 8/10 candidates, among the finalists of the scripts’ RIFF competition, will discuss (5 minutes per project) with the guests on how to submit a concept in the new post-covid market. This will be followed by a discussion with producers and distributors who will answer questions and give useful advice to candidates. Finally, there will be possible face to face meetings between the producers and the candidate whose project they are most interested in.
The first step to make a film is to write a screenplay. This is a very particular type of writing because it originates as a literary form but it can only be enjoyed as a cinematic one. The text’s transformation into a screenplay is an art that requires strong creative and technical skills. In order to ensure an effective analysis and a sincere judgment, the works in competition for the “Screenplays” section were carefully selected by a special jury composed of screenwriters, producers, and directors.
The idea of awarding this category comes from the recognition of the essential role that the screenplay plays in the process of making a film, as a basis on which to build the whole project.
