In 1965, Katrien, a young Dutch woman, moved to her husband Sergio’s hometown in Italy. Their relationship turned sour when Sergio decided to comply with the parish priest’s request to baptize their two-year-old son, Dante.

Juri Ferri, born and raised in the province of Bergamo, Juri Ferri studied in the Netherlands before obtaining an MA in filmmaking from the London Film School. His first short film, “UB-13”, premiered at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood during the 2018 HollyShorts Film Festival and was screened at the Imperial War Museum in London. His second short film, “Meidagen”, premiered at Film by the Sea in Vlissingen and has since been shown and won awards at festivals all over the world. In december 2022, he presented the documentary short “Daniele Maffeis: Still Plenty of Music Within,” about the Bergamasque composer Daniele Maffeis. After various experiences abroad, “L'olandesa" marks his first time telling a story set in his homeland.
