International Documentaries announced: Section … Oscar-worthy

9 documentaries from 9 different countries, previewed for the public of Rome

This year it is an extraordinary edition. For a week, from 15th to 22nd of November, Pigneto will be the stage for a fine selection of works from all over the world and international festivals.

With an Oscar-winning team, Barbara Bentree, a director and musician already known in the US, gives us a breathtaking portrait of one of the most extraordinary protagonists of music and cinema, composer of well-known film soundtracks of “Il laureato” with Paul Simon and “Tootsie”.

“Dave Grusin: Not Enough Time”. Neither time nor space is enough to list his breathtaking resume: Robert Redford’s Academy Award for “Milagro”, 8 Oscar nominations, 80 Grammy nominations and much, much more.

Also very important, protagonist of “Peter Lindbergh: Women ‘s Stories”, a documentary honoured at Berlinale 2019 with the participation of Jean Michel Vecchiet, the one defined as one of the greatest fashion photographers of all time, who passed away this year. In the cast Naomi Campbell and many other big names that Lindbergh made everlasting in his shots.

For the lovers of erotic plots, the Brazilian “Your Turn” by Eliza Capai (Berlinale 2019, Generation section) on the great protests in Brazil, “Antarctic Traces” by Michaela Grill, which gives us spectacular images bringing attention to the environmental issue, “The World according to Amazon” directed by Adrien Pinon and Thomas Lafarge, which reveals the hidden world of the great US giant.

Again, 3 works dedicated to the LGBTQ theme: “Madame” by Stéphane Riethauser, winner of the Jury Prize at the Madrid Documentary Festival, competing in Locarno and presented as a world preview at the Visions Du Reel 2019 festival; the Argentine “Miserere” by Francisco Ríos Flores, screened among others at the Berlinale, section Talents and the poetic “Mr. Dimitris and Mrs. Dimitrula ”, greek, by Tzeli Hadjidimitriou.

For lovers of African music and atmospheres, “Bakosó: AfroBeats of Cuba” by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi; an extraordinary journey to discover an irresistible sound.
