FROM CANNES TO ROME, THE PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE: TELECOM AND RAIMOVIE AMONG THE COMPANIES PRESENT AT THE FORUM

Record attendance at the Casa del Cinema, which saw the participants
in a fascinating debite rich in content. The “Producers on the Move”,
young independent producers from EFP that Cannes, since launching its
initiative in 2000, convened for on several occasions to discuss the
future dynamics of indie film distribution.
The participation of those present at the debate was strong for the
entire process. The questions and answers never failed to sustain the
interest of the room. The presence of major national companies
included Telecom Italy, Stephen Culiani for Cubovision, Alberto Farina
for Rai Movie, Cesare Fragnelli for Microcinema, and Daniele Girfatti
for Ownair.
The support was not just on a national level, as the RIFF got
confirmation of exploration of future distribution throughout Europe.
The RIFF was joined this year by some major names, investigating
together the perspectives of a more digital-oriented market.
The on demand program of Cubovision, the interactive TV of Telecom,
can respond to specific requests of users and therefore suit even the
most sophisticated film.
The same goes for RaiMovie that, which after the launch on
pay-per-view, has become one of the most popular free satellite
channels for the public on the small screen, so an ideal platform for
proposals from the independent world. Also Microcinema, a service of
digital and high definition bidirectional satellite transmission,
capable of offering indie film products a “window of the world”. A
great close to the RIFF, especially for writers in the competition.
