DOCUMENTARIFF: international documentaries, the official selection

The first to open the international documentary section will be “Broken Memory, Shining Dust” by Nilosree Biswass, on the strength and determination of the women of Kashmir, painfully waiting for their missing loved ones, engaged in a bloody conflict. Again, a positive form of resistance to follow the movie’s theme: “Culture of Resistance” by Lara Lee shows art, music and dance working against violence in “creative peace”, then the women protagonists for “Girls of Hope” in which Aysegul Selenga Tashkent tells of the difficult path towards the emancipation of Turkish women. “Here we drown Algerians, October 17th”, written by Yasmina Adi, chronicles the Algerian massacre carried to Paris October 17, 1961 by the French government, but the fight against the suppression of bio-diversity “Raising Resistance” where Bettina Borgfeld David Bernet takes us to the discovery of the campesinos, small Paraguayan farmers committed to fighting the use of genetically modified soybeans. David Vondracek’s “Love in the grave” tells us about the love of Jana and Jan, two homeless people who settle in a cemetery, while Gabrielle and Rob Schroder Provaas show the curious tale of two twin founders of the first trade union for prostitutes in Amsterdam in “Meet the Fokkens”. The controversial and complex story of the meta Karel Vachek, filmmaker experimentalist Czech animator of the Prague Spring, the race in 2012 with RIFF “Obscurantist and His Lineage”, while Francesco Cabras and Alberto Molinari tell of the artistic experience of the dancer Akram Khan Aglo-Bengali in “The Akram Tree”. Rounding out the series is “The Job” by Didier Cros, a tragicomic look at the skills at a job and “The New World” by Estonian Jaan Tootsen, giving voice to a Estonian movement.
