A Sunday to Watch

Among today’s anticipated features is All That I Love by Kacek Borcuch, winner of the Audience Award and Best Set Design at the Polish Film Festival and the Polish selection for the Best Foreign Film Oscar. A film about “first times”, about the hopes and dreams of a young girl and her discovery of life in a Poland at odds over the strikes of Solidarność. Next is the French film Elsewhere (La tête ailleurs) from Frederic Pelle, which tells the story of a voyage and the metaphorical selection of a destination. It is followed by the strongly shaded Belgian film Christopher Roth by Max Sender, a psychological thriller in which reality and imagination merge. Ample space is also given to Documentariff with Red Poet by Matthew Furey, a biographical film on the poet Jack Hirschman that highlights this character and the places he frequented while eviscerating a cultural and progressive America; Affari f’acqua: Cronache dall’idroscalo di Ostia from Ciro Colonna, Valerio Serafini, Kistiñe Cárcamo Aboitiz about the Seadrome of Ostia, one of the Italian Air Force’s earliest development initiatives and now one of its most charming and dilapidated; and, finally, Resistenza Comunitaria by Daniele Pozzi & Myrice Tansini, which shows the pacificist resistance of the indigenous communities and peasants in the armed conflict between the Colombian Army and the Farc guerillas and the concrete difference in the development of democracy in the Southern regions of Colombia and that of Cauca. Two women provide key testimonies: Enelia Salinas, the Mayor of Caldono, and Aida Quilcué, the leader of the indigenous movement in Cauca.
