On Thursday, November 27, starting at 4:00 PM, Magdalena Ralcheva’s Wedlock will be screened, an intense Bulgarian melodrama set in the Rhodope Mountains, where the forbidden love between Hathe and Meto is intertwined with traditions, guilt, and desires that overwhelm all certainties. At 6:00 PM, Magdalena Hausen: Frozen Time by Yannis Karpouzis, an exploration of memory that plays with time, and Stop Killing Our Women by Marco Venditti, a documentary that explores gender-based violence in Papua New Guinea, will be screened. At 7:20 pm, Imperia by Marcel Barsotti is a fascinating tale blending science fiction and mystery: mysterious alien cubes appear on Earth, causing disappearances and leading a young scientist to an ancient, hidden civilization. At 8:10 pm, Italian cinema returns with Per un po’ by Simone Valentini, a story of fleeting encounters that become turning points. Closing the evening, starting at 10:10 pm, a selection of Italian short films offers a glimpse into new voices in Italian short films. It begins with Marco Santoro’s La talpa, a tense and contemporary portrait of the Roman suburbs. It’s followed by In The Box by Francesca Staasch, which intersects three individual paths marked by fragility and the search for balance. Erion by Marius Gabriel Stancu offers an intimate tale of identities and the bonds that arise between different worlds. The selection closes with The Evaluation by Laura Kazbaraitė, a sharp look at power dynamics and the contradictions of the evaluation system.
