The competition features nine animated short films by authors from Turkey, France, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Poland, China, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. Among them are two European premieres.
The competing directors include well-established international names: Violette Delvoye, with works presented at Annecy and the Sundance Film Festival; Fabio Bonvicini, winner of the Grand Prix and Golden Lion at Cannes; and Alessandro Rak, winner of the European Film Awards for Best European Animated Film and two David di Donatello Awards.
The works range from shadows from the past, inner journeys, dance and the relationship with nature, and the reinterpretation of historical figures. They also explore coal mines, childhoods and growing up, all the way to more intimate themes such as trauma, objectification, and sexual violence. The shorts also stand out for their richness of technique, reflecting the variety and complexity of the contemporary independent animation landscape.
