Nearly 120 films in competition, including short films, documentaries and features coming from 40 different countries each pregnant with suspense, emotions, and heated themes stocked this year’s 10th Edition of the Rome IndependentFilm Festival, spurring discussions with each gust of innovative programming. During the final evening of the festival, the prestigous international jury confirmed the winners of the 2011 RIFF Awards: Best Foreign Film “Siberia Mon Amour” by Slava Ross (Russia) with Special Mention granted to “All That I Love” by Jacek Borcuch (Poland); Best Italian Film saw a tie between “M.A.R.C.O.” by Alex Cimini and “Caro, ti amo” from Gian Paolo Vallati; in the Documentariff section, “Unfinished Italy” by Benoit Felici among the Italian documentaries and “The Broken Moon” by Marcos Negrao and André Rangel (Brazil) from the foreign selections, with Special Mention reserved for the Italian documentary “Loro della munnizza” by Marco Battaglia; finally, the Sperimentariff prize went to “Where What Is Within” from Fabio Bianchini (Italy).
