FOREIGN FILMS: selected online at RIFF Awards 2012

Three films from Germany: “Angel Express” by RP Kahl and “Combat Girl” by David Wnendt, the first a tale of a bitter Berlin in the early nineties, dealing with research and at the same time denial of their identity, the second depicts the personal journey of a twenty-year old German who feels that they belong only to a Nazi group, whose only feeling is hatred, the third is a German-Swiss co-production “The Bad Uncle” by Urs Odermatt, focusing on the dynamics of small provincial towns. From Poland comes “Courage” by Greg Zglinski, the story of two brothers suddenly involved in a violent act, plus two movies from Denmark: “Room 304”, where the scene is a hotel in Copenhagen where the lives of customers weave a dense web of love and desire, Denmark-Iceland co-production “Volcano”  by Runar Runarsson shows a player who is now retired and drained of all emotion, deciding to give a new course to his life. The Spanish filmmaker Eduardo Chapero-Jackson wrote “Word”, in which the adolescent protagonist Sara, struggling with a mysterious character in an adventure swirling between life and death, while Brazilian Andre Ristum presents “Meu Pais”, a painful reflection on the origins of a Brazilian transplant in Italy who returns to his hometown after his father’s death. In the race for the United Kingdom, “Behold the Lamb” by John Mcllduff, a bizarre tragicomic road movie along which there are the adventures of Liz and Eddie and their way of looking at some form, even un-Christian, of redemption. Finally, from the United States “Vamperifica” by Bruce Ornstein, RIFF will launch an Italian preview mutlistreaming platform Mymovieslive and “The Silent Thief” by Jennifer Clary, a world premiere at RIFF Awards 2012.
