The short films selected for this year\u2019s RIFF edition depict interesting and fascinating stories from all over the world: we\u2019ll learn that a \u201csurrogate\u201d girl can be a valid solution for a man to replace his ex-girlfriend and mend his broken heart; a girl with an odd fascination with death and eccentric funerals is the protagonist of another bizarre story; then there\u2019s Andres, a forty-something farmer, in his struggle to come to terms with his son after a serious beating. Tears, laughter and the desire to escape are the main themes of this series of movies. Winter Frog, directed by Slony Sow and starring G\u00e9rard Depardieu, deals with the story of a wine expert who regains his will to live after an accidental encounter. This short film, a successful rendez vous between France and Japan, is a story of second chances and explores two very distant cultures but at the same time willing to blend and accept each other.
